About Us
Our Vision...
Imagine a world where every performing artist—those who captivate us on stage, and those who work behind the scenes to make the magic—has access to vital health and wellness services, regardless of their financial circumstances. At Health For The Arts, we are committed to making this vision a reality!

Our Mission…

The corporation is formed for the charitable purpose of offering free and low-cost health and wellness services to workers in the performing arts industry who cannot otherwise afford these services.

Why Health For the Arts?

Professional theatre workers (on-stage, back-stage, and administrative roles) do it for the love of the arts, and are often underpaid. What’s worse, even those with health insurance rarely have access to specialists (ex: eating disorders, mental health) or coverage for preventative wellness that is going to help their specific needs (ex: nutrition for long rehearsals).

That’s where we intend to come in.

Our long-term goals for this organization are to:

  • To offer free and low-cost health and wellness classes, retreats, support groups, and services for individuals in the performing arts industry.
  • To aid in resources for those in the performing arts industry who live with a mental illness and disordered eating.
  • To educate those in the performing arts industry on healthy dietary habits, wellness techniques, and mutual aid support groups.
  • To educate the general public on the lack of access to affordable care for creatives.
  • To advocate for those living with a mental health disorder, substance use disorder, and disordered eating in the performing arts industry and beyond.
  • To have a physical location in midtown Manhattan where we can offer these services, as well as have a safe community space.

To start, we will offer what is in my wheelhouse of our founder – eating disorder support groups and nutrition counseling for theatre workers.

But we need your help – We have a long way to go to even be able to provide these services!

To get started we need to:

  • Get incredible Board Treasurer (do you have a passion for the arts/healthcare and board experience?)
  • Get donors to have start-up $$ (anyone have fundraising experience?)
  • Marketing of all kinds to spread the word about how we are going to help people. (Help spread the word!)

Get in touch with the board today to share how you can help! We mostly need donations right now.
